Weight: 2.5 to 5kg
Size: Medium
Type of hair: short, very close to body
Standards colors: Only black. The skin and the pads are equally black.
Origins an history: In 1958, American breeder from Kentucky, Nikki Horner, crossbred a Burmese sable
with a black copper-eyed American Shorthair in the hopes of obtaining a black Burmese. Thus was born
a "mini black panther" whose name refers to the Black Leopard of the Indies. The breed was recognized
by the CFA in 1976 and by TICA in 1979. The first female to be imported into France in 1989 was called
Opium.
Personnality: Confident, active, playful, a good hunter and curious with remarkable agility. Since it is very
sociable and adapts easily, it is very easy-going. It supports the company of a dog but is not always
patient with its companions. Affectionate, extremely gentle, very cuddly and exclusive with his master,
he can not stand solitude. Less chatty than the Burmese, his meows are rather hoarse.
Note: The eye color is definitely fixed towards the age of 6 months. Maintenance is very easy.
